Hi my name Chris
I got my start with the United Steelworkers in 1999 at Alcoa Automotive in Auburn, Indiana.
I became involved as an officer and held various positions from Chief Griever, Vice President to President. I was a member of 2 contract negotiation committees. I was the Local President when the Company informed us of the decision to close the plant was made. I am also thankful for all of the members who served in all the various positions and the camaraderie we all shared. We didn’t always agree; but I believe we all had the best interest of the employees when we didn’t. From 1999 until the plant closed in 2013 I remained involved with the USW.
After the closure I went to work at International Paper in Butler, Indiana which is also a facility represented by the USW. While there I became the Financial Secretary/Treasurer. When my father passed away in 2016 I moved to Columbus, Georgia to lend support to my Mother.
When I moved back to Indiana in 2019 the Butler plant wasn’t hiring and I applied to the Fort Wayne, Indiana plant that is also a USW represented facility. I have been involved here since2019 and I am currently serving our local as Vice-President and Chief Shop Steward.
I have always enjoyed helping our members in any way that I can. I appreciate being in District 7 where I have gotten so much schooling. I continue to learn and try to advocate for our members every day.
