International convention was held at Cesar Palace conference centre in Las vegas for 4 days. 2,500 USW members were in attendance from Usa, Canada and the Caribbean. The main focus is All in on Solidarity. USW International President David McCall opened the convention by calling on union members to fight back against wealthy elites and corporate greed who want to silence workers across North America. To turn back the tide of economic injustice and corporate greed, we truly need to be all in,McCall said. USW has been fighting for decades in fair trade laws. USW involved in 20% of USA trades.
All in means having unity, not backing down. David mccall mentioned its not always about pay and watch out for 2 tier systems, thats a way to divide union workers. Usa has seen a big increase of workers favorable for unions up to 71% from 46%. A big focus was to try to expand union workers to fight back against the Elites and corporate greed. There were lots of great speakers from different countries from mexico, germany, brazil, Bangladesh, UK and AFL-CIO president and vice president were speakers present. The best speaker in my opinion was AFL-CIO secretary treasurer Fred Redmon. Very motivational. There were speakers from usa senate and canada political roles. Throughout the days at the  convention there were 108 resolutions submitted. 34 Constitution, 64 International Executive and 10 Policy Resolutions. Lots of exhibit booths and information available like union plus, usw.org, usw app, teaching Tuesdays formed by the Education Department to have different classes every month by zoom. Things like mental health, legal rights and responsibility  of stewards.
It was a great experience and felt the unity at the convention. It was amazing to see the Usa usw locals how they treated Canadians and on our side. One thing that stuck with me was what president Dave McCall said. A USA Attack on Canada is an attack on all of us, we won't stand for that. This was a huge moment for Canadians in attendance. Canadians were the loudest at the convention but especially district 6 was the biggest and loudest.  From this experience I really hope our local continues to send other members to this international convention. It's really worth it. Thank you for anyone who voted and allowed us to have this experience.
