Reading of the Minutes

Our last meeting was April 2nd. We discussed Steward training, WOS call letter, sub-6 council meeting, and the Wisconsin legislative directory. 

 

Communication and Bills

-received a bill for our insurance with Acuity

-save the date for NextGen Conference October 26-28 at the Blue Chip casino in Michigan City, IN

-received minutes from the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO Executive Board Meeting

  

 

Treasurer’s Report

A detailed list of incomes and expenses were read, with an ending balance of $26,251.24 and savings of $179,756.27. Janicki motion to accept, wendy second. Motion carried

 

Initiation of New Members

New members: Lacey Zimmerman, Phillip Schmidt, Dakota Krohn, Logan Anderson, Bradley Freeman, Makayla Lee. Retired: Ed Flaig. Membership: 238 in good standing. 4 non-members Justin Derezinski, Josiah Brandt, John Krause, and Peggy Dreslinger. 

 

 

 

Reports of Special Committees (celebrations, picnics, etc):

 

Reports of Permanent Committees

 

  • Grievance Committee (stewards):

-Steward training was good. Professor from Madison was good. He does offer other courses, and would be good to look into.

  • Veterans of Steel:

-33 people total signed up for the Honor Flight walk, more union than management.

 

  • Women of Steel:

-Quarterly meeting coming up May 14. Collecting kids toys to give to police stations to distribute in communities this summer. If you’d like to donate, we’d be more than happy to bring them with us to our meeting.

-Tanya Devor-MI-how to get started on lunches for lunches or Ripon girls

 

  • Eboard:

-International is looking into the accountability log

-using people from different departments to fill vacancies. 

-we are missing some important training opportunities 

-Donation Request from Busy Bees Daycare. They are putting in new playground equipment. Eboard recommendation to donate $700 to complete their fundraising needs. Wendy motion, Janicki second. Motion carried. 

 

 

Unfinished Business

-Dental Insurance carrier swap

-May 9 is a training on strategic campaigns for the master agreement in Stevens Point 

-Upcoming Health and Safety Conference in September in Michigan City, IN

-Vote on Busy Bees fundraising request

-Health and Safety Conference at Blue Chip in September

Cindy on Vegas Conference

-each local now is required to have a veterans of steel chapter

-big discussion on womens rights

-Lost time sheet info-how to fill them out
