Call to Order

Vice President Vitello called the meeting to order at 7pm at the Labor Temple. 8 members were present.

Reading of the Minutes

President Cindy Czappa called the meeting to order 5.6.26 at 7pm in the Labor Temple. 11 Members were present.

-We held a moment of silence for Tom Liebenstein.

-We read through a list of incomes and expenses, leaving us with an ending cash balance of $21,588.26 and savings of $137,768.26.

-Trustees completed the Q1 Audit.

-We had 234 members in good standing.

 Bodette motion to accept, Alworden second. Motion carried

 

Communication and Bills

-Via email, received a save the date for the District 7 Conference September 23-25, 2026. Location is the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, IN.

-Thank you letter from the Family Center, with a request for donations.

 

Treasurer’s Report

 A detailed list of incomes and expenses were read, leaving a cash balance of $17,592.81 and Savings of $138,001.16.

Janicki motion to accept as read, Bodette second. 

Discussion-are we doing better with spending?

Missing some dues refunds, and had Quarterly WOS meeting for big expenses.

Motion carried

 

Initiation of New Members

 Bray motion to accept new members and waive their initiation fees, Bodette second. Motion carried.

With new applications and withdrawals, we have 230 members in good standing.

-need to pass along a letter from a member with intent to withdraw.

 

 

Reports of Special Committees

-Forming contract negotiation team. Will start with discussing schedule and wage adjustments.

Veterans of Steel

-May 16 was veterans walk at O’sos

 

Women of Steel

-Quarterly meeting was May 13. Next Meeting will be August 12

-Wendy has been volunteering at the Zoo. Tuesday, Wednesday, and weekends we can go and weed at the zoo.

 

Next Gen

 -Dan Collins and Jen Kelnhofer attended an introductory meeting to get committees started up and new hire information.

 

Eboard

-Cindy has a request for sponsoring the Rapids Redhawks again

-New Scheduler division of jobs. We may need to assist in making sure schedules are done correctly with a new person

-Restroom by evaps will be returned to a women only restroom.

-Call-in rules-company is supposed to be setting up a meeting with Cindy, Nick, and Cody to go over the proposed verbiage for the call-in policy.

 

 

Unfinished Business

-Potential to move union office inside mill. We will need to find out what contents of the current office are ours, and how we would go about moving out. Cabinets are ours. Need to ask Sally how far back we need to save paperwork. Wendy may have access to a trailer. There are a lot of scrap pickers if we don’t want to keep cabinets. Garbage is Wednesday.

 

New Business

-Discussion on new scheduler posting. The jobs are being split up, so one person will do the scheduling for the entire mill, and one will do inventory control.

-ask during negotiation chats if we can get a trial period for other shift rotations

-are training advocates allowed overtime to do their extra duties?

-camera situation on N4, constant surveillance.
