Call to Order

President Czappa called the meeting to order at 7pm.

Reading of the Minutes

Our last meeting was May 7th, 2025. 15 members were present. We received a save the date for the NextGen conference October 26-28 at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, IN. We received minutes from the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO Executive Board Meeting. We discussed the upcoming Honor Flight 5k and Quarterly Women of Steel meeting. We had the CAT training, and an upcoming Health and Safety Conference in September. We had 6 new members and one retiree to give us a total of 238 members in good standing, with 4 non-members Justin Derezinski, Josiah Brandt, John Krause, and Peggy Dreslinger.

 

Communication and Bills

-Insurance meeting minutes. If you had dental work done so far with met life, your claims need to be re-submitted to see if you qualify for reimbursement.

-WOS Quarterly Meeting August 13-need eboard recommendation first

-Thank you from the Rapids School of Performing Arts - RSPA

 

Treasurer’s Report

A detailed list of incomes and expenses were read, leaving a total cash balance of $8978.87, and a savings of $179,756.27. Adam motion to transfer 30k from savings to cover our expenses. Lieber second. Motion carried.

Janicki motion to accept treasurers report as read, Beckman second. Discussion: Bray-I understand we had a lot of new steward training, and that was the majority of our extra expenses. Motion carried.

 

Initiation of New Members

No changes to membership, giving us a total of 238 members in good standing, with 4 non-members Justin Derezinski, Josiah Brandt, John Krause, and Peggy Dreslinger.

 

Reports of Special Committees (celebrations, picnics, etc):

-looking into price estimates to hold a solidarity picnic. Estimates will be reviewed at eboard. If there are any ideas on how to draw attention, let us know.

 

Reports of Permanent Committees

 

  • Grievance Committee (stewards):

-there is a grievance for a write-up for not culling the total amount of water spots when there are no standards.

-wage grievance from 2024

-call time-still investigating to make sure the person was eligible for the call

-member got sent home. They wanted to fire him. Had made a bad decision and they wanted to give him 30 days off, but we got him back a bit early. We may still get a big fine from the state out of it because it leaked. There will likely be more audits in that area.

 

  • Veterans of Steel:

33 people signed up for Honor Flight 5k. Everybody spent good time together. 585 people total participated.

 

  • Women of Steel:

Quarterly meeting was successful. Many items were collected and donated to area police departments to distribute to the kids they interact with. 50/50 raffle winnings went to Nekoosa High School toward lunch accounts.

 

  • Eboard:
  • Signing people off before they are ready to fill OT needs
  • Email from Coach Baker to ask us to donate to golf outing to be held July 20 at Lake Arrowhead. It is $500 to sponsor a team, and also includes sponsoring a par-3 hole. Eboard recommendation is to donate up to $500. Kelnhofer Motion and second, motion carried.
  • People have asked about new hire tshirts
  • YOU ARE NOT ON THE HOOK TO COME IN TO WORK IF YOU ANSWER YOUR PHONE-needs to be out in writing so people can read it
  • DAWS meeting with PMS
  • New hire group of 5, union meeting them 6/6.

 

Unfinished Business

-Dental Insurance carrier swap

 

 

New Business

-Nekoosa Football Golf Outing July 20 at Lake Arrowhead. Eboard recommendation is up to $500 for a team and 3-par hole sponsorship. 

-if they try and make you go under the dryers, give them a reason why you feel it is unsafe, and then call Cindy or Nick. Supervisors can help find more suitable things to clean to stay busy.

Sally-Unsafe, immoral, or illegal are the three caveats to the obey now, grieve later rule.

-nominations for District 7 eboard. Need to be in 48 hours prior to our September 3 meeting. If a vote needs to be held, election will be in November.

-John Bell is off but is the training advocate, Winker can step in to fill his advocate spot.

-pulling in a non-qualified position on machines. Will start cross trainining utility 2s and utility pool on paper machines.
