Call to Order

Moment of silence for Dave Egland.

President Czappa called the regular monthly meeting to order at 7pm at the Labor Hall. 10 members were present.

Reading of the Minutes

President Czappa called the regular monthly meeting to order at 7pm at the Labor Hall in the far back room. 12 members were present.

Observed a moment of silence for Pete Baumgart.

Received a Save the Date for United Steelworkers National Paper Bargaining Conference Aug 5-8 in Austin, TX. Motioned to send a check of $350 to the Family Center. There were no new applications or changes to membership, with 239 members in good standing and two non-members, Justin Derezinski and Josiah Brandt. 

 

Application for New Members

Applications received for Avery Humbracht, Matthew Hayek, Christopher Kobishop, Rick Timm, Jesse Clark, Andrew Quinnell, and Levi Grosskopf. Withdraw Dave Egland, Robert Skusevich, Dennis Footit, Gregory Frederick, Laurie Anderson, Wendy Montag, Daniel Ashbeck, giving 230 members in good standing. Non-members: Justin Derezinski and Josiah Brandt.

Motion carried to waive initiation fees.

 

Communication and Bills

-WOS Quarterly Meeting April 17

-Rapid Response Conference May 19-22

-Domtar Council Meeting, e-board recommendation to send 2. Secretary Lieber motion, Sergeant at Arms Gustin second. Motion carried.

 

E-Board Monthly Meeting Notes 1.30.24

-Eboard recommendation to send president and one other to Domtar Council meeting March 27

-Save the date for AFL-CIO Biennial convention Sept 16-17

-Focus neighborhood meal. (have not yet received email reply) Trustee Carlson motion, Trustee Repinski second. Motion carried.

-DAWS meetings have begun

-Officer elections in April. Nominations will be taken at March monthly meeting. Voting Wednesday before monthly meeting, 6am-4pm. Trustee Carlson motion, Trustee Repinski second. Motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report

A detailed list of incomes and expenses were read, leaving an ending balance of $38,504.48 and savings of $175,992.30. Trustee Carlson motion to accept minutes as read, Trustee Repinski second. Motion carried.

 

Old Business

-WOS Family Center Donation Drive- aiming for delivery Thursday

 

New Business

-Officer Elections coming up. Nominations in March, Election April.

-Scholarships-classes get filled fast

-Trustee Repinski-Bailey Resheske-fast pitch softball. 15 kids varsity, 14 JV. Does not want Domtar logo on hard hat for liability. Vinyl 4x10 for papermakers to say thank you to USW. Donation request up to $500 for signage. Treasurer Bray motion, Trustee Janicki second. Motion carried.

-Is there a way to get retirees to not be able to opt out of the union for their last vacations? -Cindy will ask Sally about it.
