The process to ratify the proposed new contract will begin this week.

Be sure to check your mailbox, because a Contract Summary and a Mail-in Ballot will be sent to your mailing address on record.

It will include instructions on how to cast your vote and mail it in and when the ballots will be counted.

A detailed summary of the new tentative agreement reached last week will be mailed to the home of every member soon.

The second round of contract negotiations produced a better agreement that will ensure all shipbuilders enjoy a higher standard of living for their labor in the yard.

Union rejects Company take-backs to secure contract improvements

Negotiators for shipbuilders represented by United Steelworkers Local 8888 and Huntington Ingalls Industries yesterday reached a new tentative agreement on a 60-month contract following intense meetings since talks resumed last week.

The new package increases wages, provides a first-ever Essential Employee Appreciation payment, improves pension benefits and holds the line on employee health care costs.

The proposed agreement also includes a historic domestic partner benefit.
