Richard was introduced to activism at a young age during a volitile time in the 1970's. As he grew older he discovered his rights as a worker and applied them succesfully in many non union environments.

Richard has been working for Fritolay/Pepsico for 20 years.  He started as a Steward between 2004 - 2005 but had no formal training.  He sat on the JHSC for 8 years, he also became the WSIB representative for the local around 2009-2010 and belongs to the USW injured workers program.  He has been 4610-01 Unit Chair for 2 terms as well as the Local Vice President.

When asked why he is involved his answer is always the same, "I do this for people, for the membership.  For those who feel they don't have a voice, I am their voice!"
