The Union is pleased to announce that Brother Steve Sagert, the Division #5 Grievance Committee person, has come to the point in his career where he is able and willing to retire.

Brother Sagert has represented us honorably and justly for many years, First as the Divisional Griever of BF-1 and later, after USSteel decided to idle our Iron making and move it to Big River, Division #5.

We wish to thank Steve on behalf of all members of Local 1299 and wish him a very happy and long well-earned retirement.

In addition, Steve Taylor has decided to transfer from Division #2 (crane repair) to Division #5 (central mechanical) during the annual maintenance preferencing opportunity.

With that being said Local 1299 is looking for an interested member to fill the remaining term of the Division #5 Grievance Committee-person position as well as an interested member to fill the remaining term for the Division #2 Grievance Committee-person.

If you are interested for consideration please submit that interest to recording secretary Dawn Miller, as well as any documents or other items you feel qualifies you best for the vacancy.

Final acceptance of consideration will be Friday, January 31st 2025, at 4:00pm

A vote will be held amongst the officers of the e-board to determine which candidate will best fill these important roles within our Local Union.
