2019 Bargaining Committee Update #1

From your Bargaining Committee

Good day Brothers, Sisters and Union Family! We, your bargaining committee, have begun the process of sending out the surveys. You should receive one in the mail next week. We have just started our preparations for negotiations and are working to get the best deal for you at the table this contract. We want to thank everyone for the great support you have shown us and give you a quick update on where we are.

The departmental meetings will be held at the union Hall as follows:

Maintenance Department - June 11th -8:00am and 7:00pm.

Mines Department - June 12th- 4:30pm and 7:00 pm.

Surface and Miscellaneous - June 13th 8:00am and 7:00pm.

You are welcome to attend any meeting that meets your scheduling needs!

The team has currently done training and some research to prepare our position at the table. We will take the issues you give us at the departmental meetings and from your surveys to develop our proposals. The bargaining committee has not sat down with the company but we will be meeting with them soon.

We want to take this time to thank all the Brothers and Sisters who have stepped up to the plate to help out during this time when people are pulled from their regular roles to negotiate. It will be a busy few months and we need to stick together and stay united for the best deal possible at the table.

We have a reverse text system that you can speak to your Worker Safety Representative to sign up so you can get any information we need you to have.

The Communication Action Team will be getting information out to you during negotiations to keep you up to date on where we are.  We will be working on non-monetary items first and will likely move into monetary later in the bargaining process.  During this time we want everyone to please keep your minds on working safely at work and at home.  There will likely be a lot of rumours and we want to not let that distract anyone from going home safely to their families. We hope to be successful at the table as we have in the past and want to once again thank everyone!

In solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee.

Warren, Scott, Matt, Keith, Dave and Todd.
