The most important work we do as a union involves bargaining and enforcing contracts to secure fair wages, dependable benefits, and safe working conditions. However, whether we like it or not, workplace health and safety, wage and overtime regulations, retirement security even our right to organize and bargain collectively, are all tied to local, state, and federal laws and the people making them.

As we move into 2020, we want to hear about the issues that matter to you. That's why we're holding a series of town hall meetings across the district, where we'll have a converstion about your priorities and share some of our union's work to impact government decisions.

Le 2 mars 2020 - Le dimanche 23 février 2020, les membres de l’Unité 63 de la certification Stratcom ont assisté à une assemblée de ratification à Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique.

Les résultats du vote de ratification pour le renouvellement de la convention collective Stratcom de la Section locale 1944 des Métallos ont été compilés et le contrat a été ratifié. Il sera signé par la Section locale et la compagnie, et entrera en vigueur dès sa signature pour la période du 1er décembre 2019 au 30 novembre 2022.

Les membres de l’Unité 63 ont été invités à voter « Oui » ou « Non » à la question « Êtes-vous en faveur de la ratification de la convention collective conclue le 13 février 2020 ? ». Les résultats du vote sont en faveur à 83,3 %.

Points principaux du contrat :

• Augmentation de salaire de 1,25 % la première année, 1,50 % la deuxième année et 1,75 % la troisième année.
• Augmentation de salaire rétroactive au 1er décembre 2019
• Les employés travaillant après 23 h 00 recevront un bon de taxi d’une valeur pouvant atteindre jusqu’à 18,00 $
• La durée de toutes les pauses rémunérées passe à 20 minutes
• Les pauses-repas rémunérées s’appliquent aux quarts de travail supérieurs à 5 heures et jusqu’à 6 heures
• Les pauses-repas rémunérées s'appliquent aux quarts de travail supérieurs à 6 heures et inférieurs à 7,5 heures, et offrent la possibilité de prendre une pause facultative non rémunérée de 15 minutes
• Les niveaux d’échelle salariale des préposés aux appels passent de neuf à six

« Après des négociations positives avec plusieurs autres de nos certifications au cours de la dernière année, cette convention collective constitue un nouveau succès pour notre Section locale, a déclaré Donna Hokiro, Présidente par intérim. Les changements que nous continuons de mettre en place pour améliorer la communication avec les membres et augmenter leur engagement sont directement liés à nos succès en matière de négociation. La Section locale poursuivra sur cette lancée en préparation des négociations avec Shaw et Telus. »

Nous mettrons à jour la convention collective avec les modifications adoptées et, une fois que les deux parties auront examiné et signé la convention collective renouvelée, celle-ci sera disponible en ligne pour nos membres sous la rubrique Entreprises, Stratcom.

March 2, 2020 - On Sunday, February 23, 2020, Unit 63 members from the Stratcom certification attended a ratification meeting in Vancouver, BC.

Results of the ratification vote for the renewal USW Local 1944 Stratcom Collective Agreement have been tabulated and the agreement has been ratified.  It will be signed by the Local Union and the Company and will be effective, upon signing, from December 1, 2019 to November 30, 2022.

Unit 63 members were asked to vote “Yes” or “No” to the question “Are you in favour of ratifying the tentative Collective Agreement reached on February 13, 2020?”  The results of the vote are 83.3% in favour. 

Highlights of the agreement include:

• 1.25% wage increase in year one, 1.50% in year two and 1.75% in year three
• Wage increases retroactive to December 1, 2019
• Employees who work after 11:00 pm, shall receive a taxi chit of up to $18.00
• All paid rest breaks increase to 20 minutes
• Paid meal breaks apply to shifts greater than 5 hours and up to 6 hours
• Paid meal breaks apply to shifts greater than 6 hours and less than 7.5 hours and have an option of taking an optional unpaid 15 minute break
• Callers wage scale steps decrease from nine to six steps

“After positive negotiations with several other certifications last year, this collective agreement is another success for our Local Union,” said Donna Hokiro, Acting President.  “The changes we continue to make to improve our membership communications and engagement are directly linked to our bargaining successes.  The Local will continue this strong momentum going into future preparation for negotiations with Shaw and Telus.”

We will update the collective agreement with the agreed changes and once both parties review and sign the renewed collective agreement, it will be available for members online under the Workplaces heading, Stratcom.
