As per the contract under Article 4, 

Section B. Civil Rights Committee 1. A Joint Committee on Civil Rights (Joint Committee) shall be established at each location covered by this Agreement. The Union shall appoint two (2) members, in addition to the Local Union President/Unit Chair and Grievance Chair. The 31 Company shall appoint an equal number of members, including the Plant Manager, or his designated representative, and the Manager of Employee Relations. The Parties shall each appoint a Chair and shall provide each other with updated lists of the members of the Joint Committee.

As per the contract under Article 3, Section I:

Section I. The Union’s Right to Participate in Environmental Issues

1. A Joint Environmental Sub-Committee of the Joint Safety and Health Committee will be established at each location, composed of an equal number of employees designated by the Union and the Company. The Joint Safety and Health SubCommittee will meet regularly to discuss environmental issues affecting the Company and to make appropriate recommendations.

2. The Company will make available for review to the Sub-Committee all nonconfidential environmental reports, monitoring results, analyses, materials received from the EPA and other agencies, and any other relevant, nonconfidential documents related to the Company’s environmental program and obligations.

It is with deep sorrow, that Local 499 acknowledges the passing of former local president Rick Gifford. After 4 years of service in the Navy, Gifford worked at Cytec from 1989 - 2013, then transferred to Allnex until his retirement in 2018. Rick held many Local and Unit positions for the union during this time and devoted a considerable amount of time and energy to his positions. Rick's many contributiions will have a lasting impact on the well being of local 499, and he will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rick passed in his home state of Florida on Saturday, December 28th, 2019.
