We are the United Steelworkers, North America’s largest industrial union. We’re 1.2 million members and retirees strong in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. We proudly represent men and women who work in nearly every industry there is.
At the 2017 Constitutional Convention our union committed to exploring the creation of Veterans of Steel, a place in the United Steelworkers (USW) where those who served or who are serving our country can find resources, camaraderie, support and a way to fight for core issues such as protecting and creating family-supporting jobs after service.
If you are a USW member who’s also a military veteran, please fill out this form so we can be in touch with more information about Veterans of Steel. As the program is developed, we would like to tap your brain about how we can best help you and other vets. You can also text VET to 32323 to join*.
This form is for veterans who live in Canada and are members of a Canadian USW local. If you are a veteran living in the US and a member of an American USW local, please use this page instead.
We’ll send everyone who signs up a free “Veteran of Steel” sticker.
If you don't already follow @SteelworkersCA on social media, find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to get the latest updates from the union.

Next Generation is a program to inspire and educate the young members of the United Steelworkers, North America’s largest industrial union that proudly represents 1.2 million current and retired workers. The Steelworkers of today work in industries like manufacturing, oil, paper, health care and pharmaceutical, education, public services, mining, forestry and so much more.
The USW has a proud history of standing up for workers and making our world a better place. The Next Generation program honors our past, protects our present and aims to make our union viable and relevant for the future by introducing our newest members to a lifetime of activism.
Our current Next-Gen Committee maintains the website and social media platforms. As well as creates and distributes the quarterly newsletters and other flyers around the plant site. If you want to get involved, please reach out using the above link.

The Health, Safety and Environment Department has five major functions – assisting local unions with health, safety and environmental problems; assisting with and/or conducting education and training programs for local union committee officers and staff representatives; assisting local unions in electing party status or friend-of-the-court status in cases relevant to the safety and health of our membership; working for better regulations and standards; and helping to negotiate better health and safety language in Steelworkers' contract.
