Every year, USW Local 1944 offers three educational scholarships of $750 and four scholarships of $1,000 for any post-secondary institution, to children of union members graduating from high school.

Le 30 juillet 2019 - Des événements de la fierté sont organisés jusqu’au mois de septembre. La Section locale 1944 reconnaît les épreuves auxquelles font face nos membres LGBTQ et les soutient. Tous les individus doivent être traités et respectés de façon équitable, dans la dignité et le respect de leurs libertés. Nous devons continuer à faire évoluer les mentalités et à établir des environnements de travail sécuritaires pour tous nos membres. Les événements de la Fierté sont l’occasion de défendre les droits de la personne pour tous.
Faisons preuve de solidarité en faisant du bénévolat ou en participant aux événements organisés pour la Fierté. Voici une liste non exhaustive des événements de la Fierté organisés dans les quatre provinces où travaillent nos membres.
Le 4 août se déroule le défilé de la fierté de Vancouver. Participez aux célébrations avec des membres et amis de la Section locale 1944 et du District 3 des Métallos. Rendez-vous avant midi sur Robson Street, entre les rues Thurlow et Burrard (zone 1, côté nord, emplacement 1). Nous serons avec la multi-Fierté de la Fédération...
July 30, 2019 - Pride events are taking place until September. Our Local recognizes and supports the struggles of our LGBTQ members. All individuals should be treated as being equally deserving of respect, dignity and freedom. We must continue to change mentalities and build safe work environments for all of our members. Pride events are the opportunity to support human rights for all.
Show solidarity by volunteering or attending a Pride parade or event! Below is a non-exhaustive list of Pride events organized in the 4 Provinces where our members work.
August 4 is Vancouver’s Pride Parade. Join in the celebrations with members and friends from Local 1944 and USW District 3. Meet by 12:00 pm on Robson Street between Thurlow and Burrard Streets (Zone 1, North Side, Slot 1). We will be in the multi-pride with the BC Federation of Labour.
September 1 is Calgary’s Pride Parade! The Alberta Federation of Labour is looking for volunteers to help them out. Sign up to join them at http://1944.fyi/...
