We are the United Steelworkers, North America’s largest industrial union. We’re 1.2 million members and retirees strong in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. We proudly represent men and women who work in nearly every industry there is.
On behalf of our entire league I want to thank everyone one of you for everything you did to make this event a huge success. We got so much further down our wish list than we ever thought possible thanks to the wonderful volunteers from Xylem. With your help we accomplished more in 3 hours than we would have been able to in 5 or 6 weekends. Your team helped us with cleaning up debris and garbage, painting the batting cage building, weeding and mulching the garden, cleaning up around the bleachers, removing the old flooring in the snack stand, repairing a leaning outfield fence, carrying out the pitching mounds, scraping and caulking part of the outside of the main building.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22 Worldwide. Various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day now includes events in more than 193 countries. The USW Local 897 and Xylem Inc. celebrated Earth day by cleaning our Town little league baseball fields and properly recycling plastic bottles and other debris that was collected. There is something you can do to make the world a better place for you and our children: Recycle...

As well as participated in the Labor wave to #StopTheShutdown Rally, and the Women’s March on Washington. This was an educational and inspirational experience for all involved and went a long way as far as shedding some light on some of the key issues and challenges that women and other minorities in the workforce, face on a regular basis even today. And how we as union brothers and sisters can continue to promote a culture in which these challenges and unfair disadvantages can become a thing of the past.
Thank you for your support in helping us further our education so that we may better understand the problems, and be better equipped to fight for change for all union members.
Due to the fact that there is so much confusion, I will try to clear things up. This upcoming vote is a strike vote. Now in no way, shape, or form am I telling anyone to strike. The hospital administration has approached me and told me that they are being told that I am specifically telling people to strike. I am not. Everyone has the right to vote the way they want to. I was just making everyone aware that the committee supports the new contract. The ballots will say YES to accept the contract and NO to strike. Voting YES means that the new contract will be implemented and that there will be no strike. Voting NO will mean that there will be no contract and that there will be a strike. This is the final vote. I understand that people are frustrated and trying to understand. I am only trying to be as clear and transparent to you as I possibly can. There are comments that stated that a letter can be written to the union to get out of it before a strike, and that is false. I will be posting the strike rules and it will be in the files section on the facebook page. I will also post it in local's webpage under membership resources. Our locals webpage is https://uswlocals.org/usw-local-09620 [1]. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected].
