January 30, 2019 - Today, Local 1944 Executive Board members were sworn-in at the Leo W. Gerard Union Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. Congratulations are extended to the new Executive Board.
Present for the Swearing-In Ceremony were Ken Neumann, National Director for Canada; Steve Hunt, District 3 Director, Alain Croteau, District 5 Director, Marty Warren, District 6 Director, Ron Wyatt, Local 1944 Administrator, Mark Rowlinson, Executive Assistant to the National Director for Canada, and John Perquin, from the USW International in Pittsburgh.
“It is a great honour to take on the responsibilities of President for Local 1944,” said Isabelle Miller, President of USW Local 1944. “It is now time to build a Local that works for our members, and this will be possible through open dialogue, gender and racial equity, and the restoration of true solidarity. There are challenges ahead, but I believe that if all work together, there is nothing we cannot achieve.”
The Executive Board has been meeting this week in strategy sessions with the Administration team. Local 1944 will remain under Administration until further notice.
Le 30 janvier 2019 - Aujourd’hui, les membres du Bureau exécutif de la Section locale 1944 ont été assermentés au Centre syndical Leo W. Gerard à Mississauga, en Ontario. Félicitations aux membres du nouveau Bureau exécutif !
Étaient présents à la cérémonie d’assermentation : Ken Neumann, Directeur national pour le Canada ; Steve Hunt, Directeur du District 3 ; Alain Croteau, Directeur du District 5 ; Marty Warren, Directeur du District 6 ; Ron Wyatt, Administrateur de la Section locale 1944 ; Mark Rowlinson, Assistant exécutif du Directeur national pour le Canada ; et John Perquin, du Syndicat international des Métallos à Pittsburgh.
« C’est un grand honneur d’assumer les responsabilités de Présidente de la Section locale 1944, a déclaré Isabelle Miller, Présidente de la Section locale 1944 des Métallos. Il nous faut à présent construire une Section locale qui fonctionne pour tous nos membres, et cela sera possible grâce au dialogue, à l’égalité entre les sexes, à l’égalité raciale, et au rétablissement d’une réelle solidarité. Nous avons des défis à relever, mais si nous travaillons tous ensemble, il n’y a rien que nous ne puissions accomplir. »
Le Bureau exécutif s’est réuni cette semaine lors de séances de stratégie avec l’équipe des Administrateurs de tutelle. La Section locale 1944 restera sous tutelle jusqu’à nouvel ordre.
