Le 15 novembre 2018 - Chers confrères et consoeurs, Je suis heureux de vous informer que les Administrateurs ont maintenant terminé leur Rapport.
Nous savons que des questions ont été levées sur le temps qu’il a fallu pour y parvenir. Afin de faire droit aux très nombreux membres ayant déposé une plainte, nous avons dû examiner de façon approfondie plus de 100 plaintes déposées en regard de l’élection tenue en avril 2018 par la Section locale 1944 pour élire les Dirigeants de la Section locale. Pour cela, nous avons dû passer en revue des centaines et des centaines de pages de documents et de photos, et interroger des dizaines de personnes. Nous espérons que vous comprendrez que tout cela a pris du temps.

Le Rapport a été soumis au Président international Leo Gerard, au Directeur national pour le Canada Ken Neumann, au Directeur du District 3 Steve Hunt, au Directeur du District 5 Alain Croteau, et au Directeur du District 6 Marty Warren, qui ont tous examiné le Rapport. En vertu de l’autorité conférée au Président international par l’article IV de la Constitution, le Président Gérard a approuvé et confirmé les recommandations contenues dans le Rapport et a demandé aux Administrateurs de les mettre en application immédiatement. Les Administrateurs travailleront au cours des prochains jours et des prochaines semaines à déterminer la logistique nécessaire à l’installation des nouveaux Dirigeants élus tel que mentionnés dans notre Rapport, et à la tenue d’une nouvelle élection au poste de Dirigeant Exécutif Régional (Alberta).
Conformément aux dispositions du Manuel d’élections dans les Sections locales, les membres intéressés de la Section locale peuvent faire appel des recommandations contenues dans notre Rapport dans un délai de (10) jours à compter d’aujourd’hui, le 15 novembre 2018. Tout appel doit être déposé auprès du Secrétaire-trésorier international.
November 15, 2018 - Sisters and Brothers, I am pleased to advise you that the Administrators have now completed our Report.
We realize that there have been questions raised about the length of time it has taken to get to this point. In order to do justice to the many, many members who filed a protest, we had to fully and thoroughly review each of the more than 100 protests filed, related to the April 2018 election for Local Union Officers held by LU 1944. This meant that we had to review hundreds and hundreds of pages of documents and photos as well as interview dozens of people. We trust that you understand that all takes time.

The Report was submitted to International President Leo Gerard, the Canadian National Director Ken Neumann, District 3 Director Steve Hunt, District 5 Director Alain Croteau and District 6 Director Marty Warren and all of them have reviewed the Report. Under the authority granted to the International President in Article IV of the Constitution, President Gerard has endorsed and upheld the recommendations contained in the Report and has asked the Administrators to implement those recommendations forthwith. The Administrators will work over the coming days and weeks to determine the logistics for installing the newly elected Officers as set out in our Report and for conducting a new election for the positions of Regional Executive Officer (Alberta).
In line with the provisions of the Local Union Elections Manual, the decision to uphold the recommendations contained in our Report may be appealed by interested members of the Local Union within then (10) days of today, November 15, 2018. Such appeals must be filed with the International Secretary-Treasurer.
The USW Local 2705 Women Steel will be collecting donations of hat, mittens, jackets or boots for their 1st Annual Hat and Mitten Drive. Your donations will be given to area schools to give to children in need of warm clothes this winter. Collection totes are available in all departments out on the property. Items can be used, but preferably in new condition, so those winter duds that your kids outgrew will surely keep another kid warm for the winter. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
