Having merged with the USW the next few years will be a transition period, which is to be completed as of January 1, 2020. The USW Local 1944, with the USW helping to fund and facilitate, will be providing an unprecedented amount of training and education to members; providing them with the necessary tools to police the Collective Agreements, protect their rights and organize for upcoming rounds of bargaining. The USW Local 1944 will also now have access to USW’s strategic, legal, and research departments as well as their Strike and Defense fund. This places us in a much better position as all of our certifications approach bargaining.
