Recipients of the 2024 Philip Murray Memorial Scholarships will have arrangements made for the payment of their first year’s tuition, fees, and books up to a maximum of $1,500 with the official of the institution charged with the administration of scholarships. The Scholarship payment will be made when a copy of the recipient’s acceptance letter from the learning institution is presented to United Steelworkers. Should the recipient fail to send the requested information and acceptance letter from the learning institution by December 31, 2024, the award will be invalid. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.

One scholarship, each with a value of $1,500.00, is to be made available for use during the recipients’ first year at any accredited college, university, vocational or technical institution in the United States or Canada. Scholarships will be awarded in May 2024 by the Scholarship and Existence Fund, USW District 12, as determined by a selection committee comprised of professional educators.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
Children, stepchildren, or legal wards of active members of local unions affiliated with the Scholarship and Existence Fund, United Steelworkers, District 12;
Must have a 2.75 GPA or better during junior or senior year in high school; and,
Graduate from high school in 2024.
The Philip Murray Memorial Scholarship does not discriminate based on sex, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, race, religion (including non-belief), political affiliation, and intended course of study.

We would like to congratulate all the men and women that made Black Labor Week 2024 possible. Volunteer's from locals all around the country did everything from packing lunches for school children, praticipating in local job fairs to volunteering at sournding senior centers. When it comes to helping the community, the organizers at Black Labor Week definitely set the bar for all future USW group gatherings.
