We are the United Steelworkers, North America’s largest industrial union. We’re 1.2 million members and retirees strong in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. We proudly represent men and women who work in nearly every industry there is.
We are the United Steelworkers, Smoky Mountain Local 507. Chartered in 1966, we have proudly represented multiple generations of workers at the Canton Mill and Waynesville Plant. We are over 850 members strong. Our members are leaders in our commmunities and in the workplace. We work hard for the best interest of working families. We believe in better. We stand up and fight back for better.
Local 307 members, families and retirees have a huge economic impact on our local economy that supports jobs in our area and across our nation. As union laborers we should always look to buy union first. Everyone can help build a stronger America with every dollar we spend. When we purchase quality union-made goods and services made by companies that provide their employees with fair wages, safe working conditions, and access to health care, we are helping to protect and grow America's middle class.
Labor 411 is a comprehensive database of union made products that help us make buying decisions as informed consumers looking to support our fellow union brothers and sisters. They provide us with the most comprehensive list of union-made goods anywhere. So whether we're planning a vacation, shopping for pet food or buying groceries, Labor 411 will help make our everyday buying decisions count. You can find the full database here: https://labor411.org/
Below are few quick options if you don't want to go through the database.
After reviewing the CDC guidelines and taking into account the ease and availability of receiving the Covid vaccine at this time, the company and Union are in agreement with the following attendance policy update to the Emergency Pandemic Attendance Policy effective
Tuesday July 6, 2021:
Employees will continue to receive up to 3 days of No Point No Pay (1 day on the first shot and 2 days on the second shot) to get vaccinated or to recover if symptoms from the vaccine arise. In order to receive these No Point No Pay days the employee must notify Human Resources prior to receiving the vaccine
Employees will no longer receive No Point No Pay for Covid contact quarantine but it shall be considered a single sick incident and the length of quarantine which will follow the current CDC recommended guidelines at the time of quarantine.
Employees who contract Covid and provide proof, will still be eligible for No Point No Pay for their quarantine time and may be eligible for ST Disability pay and/or FMLA benefits.
Employees who take Covid contact quarantine and then test positive during that quarantine will have their single sick converted into No Point No Pay for their quarantine time and may be eligible for ST Disability pay and/or FMLA. If an employee chooses not to take a Covid test in any circumstance, they will receive their quarantine time as a single sick incident.
The company and Union will continue to meet and discuss the best practices for handling Covid in the work place and keep the health and safety of our employees and members as a priority. The policies enacted in March of 2020 have allowed everyone to remain healthy, safe, and provided clarity during the pandemic. After over a year, we are excited to get closer to normal again. Both the company and Union encourage everyone to get vaccinated to keep yourself and others safe both in and outside of work.

Jenn is quite grateful for being chosen as Local Union Recording Secretary and is enthusiastic to help make positive changes in the workplace environment.

In addition to serving Stark County through her employment, she also has other outreach programs she is involved in. She is the founder of her nonprofit, ‘Bundles of Love’ where she provides baby formula, blankets, and diapers to those in need in Carroll County since 2013. She has also assisted with her local church in providing backpacks and school supplies to those in need in her community. Jenn not only stays busy with her outreach programs but is also a mom to two amazing kids, ages 17 and 4. She loves to take her kids to zoos, aquariums, fishing, and on boat rides during the warmer months. Her dream vacation is to be able to take her kids and see Disney World eventually one day!
