Members and Retirees of Local 5328

Good evening all. 

 I would like to congratulate Brett Lewis, Jason Spieght and Tony Vella on their retirements!! 

 On behalf of Local 5328, I wish you health and happiness on your retirement! It has been a pleasure working with you and representing you! 

 Brett, thank you for your years of servicing our local and members! You have been an incredible asset to this local. Your expertise and knowledge will be big shoes to fill! 

 Thank you brothers!!

 COLA! We received an .11 cent increase in cola as of February 28. It should be reflected on your next pay at $1.49 per hour. 

 Please be aware of your break, lunch and relief times. The company is keeping a close eye on this!! Do not give them any reason to discipline! 

 The relief in oil temper has been changed. I have questioned the plant manager a few times. I have not received an answer yet? 

 LOCAL 5328 Nominations will start next week on March 9 and close on March 11 at 4:00pm. Must be in writing and handed to Ron Whalen, recording Secretary.

2021 PHILIP MURRAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
UNITED STEELWORKERS - DISTRICT 12

One scholarship, each with a value of $1,500.00, is to be made available for use during recipients' first year at any accredited college, university, vocational or technical institution in the United States or Canada. Scholarships will be awarded in May 2021 by the Existence and Educational Council Fund, USW District 12, as determined by a selection committee comprised of professional educators.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: 

1. Children, stepchildren, or legal wards of active members of local unions affiliated with the Existence and Educational Council Fund, United Steelworkers, District 12;
2. Must have a 2.75 GPA or better during junior or senior year in high school; and,
3. Graduate from high school in 2021.

The Philip Murray Memorial Scholarship does not discriminate based on sex, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, race, religion (including non-belief, political affiliation and intended course of study. 

Available 2021 Phillip Murray Memorial Scholarships: 

• California (Sub-District 1): 17 Awards
• Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah (Sub-District 2): 5 Awards
• Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington and Idaho (Sub-District 3): 5 Awards

1. Applicants must print and fill out the application form by clicking here and secure the signature of the member's local union financial secretary, (Walter Castro 909-365-9101) to indicate active union membership and applicant relationship eligibility;
2. Prepare a short (300-500 words) essay outlining "What effect does a strong labor movement have on the working class in a democratic society?"; and,
3. Mail the completed application, essay and high school transcript, postmarked by April 15, 2021, to The Scholarship Committee, United Steelworkers District 12, to the respective address below:

March 5, 2021 - Congratulations Abbotsford! We appreciate the solidarity that you have shown your bargaining committee. It is what has kept us going, and that made the difference at the bargaining table. Your bargaining team has reached a tentative agreement. We are pleased to bring it to the membership with our unanimous endorsement. We will be presenting the details of this offer and holding a ratification vote this Monday, March 8, 2021, at 4:30 pm.
