The Hospital only offered us, the Union (that’s you and me, our elected union leaders, and negotiating committee, supported by our legal department and professional negotiators), a single day this month for negotiations. ONE. SINGLE. DAY. The hospital’s actions may well be tantamount to illegal bad faith bargaining.
The Hospital’s unreasonable and irresponsible delay in negotiations reveals the lack of respect and appreciation management has for the work we do, or the sacrifices we are making every day.
Despite management obstacles, there has been some progress correcting the pension language changes and addressing the inequitable distribution of wage increases – but more work is needed.
Management’s refusal to provide RETROACTIVE INCREASES continues to be a serious point of contention. Punishing caregivers and critical service workers in a hospital because Covid-19 disrupted bargaining schedules is not just outrageous, it’s an insult to us and our hard work and contributions.
We are scheduled to return to the table for full days of negotiations on March 10,2021 and March 19, 2021. Let’s hope they’ve grown a heart and agree to our reasonable demands for a fair and equitable contract.
There will be another Zoom meeting on March 4, 2021 at 8:00 pm. Join with Local Union President Bridgette Perry, your bargaining committee, Staff Representatives Dianne Kanish and Miguel Garcia and District Director Gaylan Prescott to discuss negotiations.
Please send an email to [email protected] to request that an invite be emailed to you. In the email please include your name, department you work in and the email address that you would like the invite sent to.
Say a good word about your Union. Tell your supervisor to pass the word up their chain of command: OUR sacrifices in 2020 and 2021 DESERVE RECOGNITION!
In solidarity from your USW Local 2801 Negotiating Committee

I would like to wish those that have recently quit, good luck in their future endeavours. It’s been a pleasure working with you!
Unfortunately, this is happening to often as the working conditions have deteriorated! Not the environment we are used to!
ATTENTION RETIREES---------Retirement (indexing) cheques have been mailed out this morning.
Again I remind you all! We are in a contract year and you will hear all kinds of rumours! Please ignore them! Please watch your breaks, lunch times, and relief. Eye in the sky is always watching.
