USW EDUCATION dEPARTMENT-
teaching tuesdays
The Education Department is proud to present "Teaching Tuesdays" as a series of classes that USW members can attend from the comfort of their homes.
All Stewards training classes will be held on the 1st Tuesday of each month.
All classes are held at either 10 AM or 7 PMCST, so if you are interested in attending one of the classes please click on the time that you can attend. Sessions run for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Sign up for free, online courses through the USW's Education Department. Courses include Union Stewards Basic Course, How to Write Grievances, and Interpreting and Drafting Contract Language.
The Chequamegon Clinic in Ashland will be voting tomorrow on whether or not to ratify their new union contract with St. Luke's. Voting will take place from 11am to 1pm in the Community Room of the Clinic. You must be present to vote, so if you have the day off, you'll need to swing by to cast your ballot. Union staff will be on hand to walk through the proposed changes in the contract, and to answer any questions you may have. We'll also have on hand copies of the Local union's college scholarship applications and free neck gaiters.
Wendy Drake is the current Steward at the Millet Learning Center for USW Local 9521 since 2021 and works for the Saginaw ISD as a Paraprofessional at Millet.
The plant blew a cap off of our steam header late Friday night Saturday morning. This caused the plant to go dark and loss of the boilers. The header was repaired and we where able to get a boiler operational for heat reasons. At this time we are producing in one plant. I have been told the mine will be idled till Wednesday but that could change. If anyone that showed up for there shift that had not been notified does not receive show up pay for that day please let a steward know. I will pass any information I get on to the membership.
