We are the United Steelworkers, North America’s largest industrial union. We’re 1.2 million members and retirees strong in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. We proudly represent men and women who work in nearly every industry there is.
During our partnership meeting with the company, we were given an update on business and the upcoming plans for 2021 at UPI. Business is looking very good for the first quarter of 2021, better then what was planned by the sales group and looks to continue into the 2nd quarter of the year. They stated that the demand for sheet and tin products on the West Coast is very high right now and they are working very hard to find enough hot bands to fill the orders.
At the sametime we were notified that UPI is looking to sell the port and part if the dock terminal. We had asked why this is taking place and we were told that the port is very costly to maintain and to keep up to regulations along with it being worth a substantial amount of money.
With the sale of the port UPI will be able to pay off its outstanding debt, be able to purchase 2 new cranes to off load rail at a different location on UPI property and have cash on hand to reinvest into the operations of the plant.
At this time UPI has no current plans to have any vessels arrive but, if in the future we were to have a vessel deliver product to us we would be able to utilize the port and dock for offloading of hot bands. As we get more information on the sale and usage of the port we will get it out to the membership.
Please pass on this information to your fellow Union Brother's and Sister's.
With events you can make an events calendar with all your local's activities. Upcoming events will also appear on the right sidebar below the feature section as your members visit the website's homepage.
Adding an Event
When you are on the home page, the easiest way to create an event is to click on the “+Create” button in the bottom right corner, circled below in red:
When you click on that button, a menu will appear. Click the “Create Event” option:
This will take you to the event set up page, where you will infill the title, description, event date and time, and location. You can also add media (image or video) and have the event repeat, if you like.
When you are done, click the green publish button in the bottom right:
This will create an event page like this, with buttons that users can use to share the event on Twitter, Facebook, or Email:
The event will also automatically show up on the Events page in the calendar and among “Upcoming Events.”
Editing or Deleting an Event
In order to edit an event, you will first want to navigate to the events page. Click on the “Events” tab on the navigation bar:
By adding actions to your Union Hall site, you can direct users to sign petitions, take part in message actions to CEOs or politicians, and more! Actions are usually included as a Hero Button on your homepage, this is the first page your users will see.
This petition to support the United Museum Workers union drive in Pittsburgh is an example of an action that you could link to:
How to Add an Action
In order to make an action on Union Hall, which can be used for the Hero Button or be featured elsewhere on your site, first click on the create button on the main page:
When you make an action, there are a few things that are required. These include the title, button text and URL, an image and a description. If you were, for example, to paste the URL to the United Museum workers’ petition, users would be taken to that website to take action.
If you click “Show in homepage display” your action will be added to the homepage, although it will not be automatically featured on the Hero Image:
If you click to show in homepage display, your action will show up on the homepage below the hero image:
Actions can also be embedded on web pages for single use.
Now that you have built your action, you will want direct web traffic to it. The best way to do this is to use the “Take Action” button on the homepage:
How “Take Action” Works
When you set up a Hero Button to “Take Action,” it will show up on the home page, overlaid on the hero image with a button that users can click: ...
