The Collective Bargaining Agreement between United Steelworkers Local 5000 and Interlake Leasing III has been ratified. This marks the end of the long process of negotiating and ratifying contracts from all six bargaining units this past year. We understand that the process has been long and difficult, and we thank our members for their continued patience throughout the past several months and to those who participated at the bargaining table.
Print copies of each of the CBA's are in various stages of progress, with some units having obtained copies and others still waiting. We haven't forgotten about the importance of getting this information out to our members and will be getting those out to you as soon as we can.
In addition, electronic copies of each of the CBA's will be available at the launch time of our mobile app, which is scheduled for November 15th.
Local 8888 is partnering with NNS Trades to offer free drive-thru flu shots over the next two weeks at our union hall. For your safety and convenience, this drive-thru event will be held in the parking lot behind our building at 4306 Huntington Ave. in Newport News, VA. The attached leaflet provides the schedule for Nov. 1-2 and Nov. 8-9. Participants must stay in their vehicles and wear a mask.
Red Book Contract Negotiations Update: We spent the day in negotiations with Essentia Health. The union is very much trying to wrap up the non-economics part of this so that we can get into economics. But judging by the company's responses today we're currently world's away. Hopefully next time (Nov. 18) will go better.
