Contracting Out

The Contracting Out Committee receives notifications detailing work that the Company wants to have performed by outside contractors.  The Committee rejects or approves the notifications based on provisions in the Basic Labor Agreement.

Rejected notices are discussed at meetings held between the parties in an attempt to resolve the issue.  If a resolution is not reached, the issue is appealed to arbitration.

Members of the Committee then prepare arguments that support the Union's position and help the Union Staff Representative present the case to the arbitrator.
