The Union Hall roof is more than 25 years since last replacement. A Union contractor inspected the roof. It has three existing layers. Water has penetrated the top layers but wood appears to be dry. The estimate for full strip and replacement is very competitive. In addition, the A/C part of our HVAC system is very old and needing replaced. We are working on getting a replacement proposal.

The local Women of Steel will be awarding one$500.00 scholarship to a 2020 graduating senior. The local Women of Steel Committee will choose the scholarship recipient based on the best essay submission in addition to meeting all qualifications. The deadline is July 6, 2020.
Daughters and sons, step-children, and legal wards (residing with or having proof of financial obligation for applicant) of active USW Local 1-689 members are eligible to apply for the scholarship award.
The candidate must be in a graduating high school class during the year the scholarship is being awarded and have attained at least a 2.8 cumulative grade point average, which must be stated on the transcript for the year of graduation.
