Membership Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at the Union Hall at 2288 Wakefield Mound Road.  Cick on the picture above for 2024 dates.

Recent News

A contract ratification vote will be held Thursday, March 7th at the USW 689 Union Hall.  A negative vote will initiate a request to strike.  You must arrive at the meetings promptly as doors will close at the beginning of each session.  You must attend a meeting to vote.  Session times are as follows:

5:30 a.m.
7:30 a.m.
11:15 a.m.
6:30 p.m.
7:30 p.m.

Proposal

The nomination meeting will be held on March 12th during the Membership Meeting which begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Union Hall.  You must be at the meeting to make a nomination, or ask someone attending the meeting to make nominations on your behalf.

The Officers/Representatives election will be held on April 23rd at the Union Hall from 6 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Current USW Local 689 Members:
If you are interested in serving as an Election Committee member for the upcoming Union Officer and Representative election in April, please contact the Union Hall at 740-289-2405 or [email protected]. Election Committee members will be appointed at the March 12th nomination meeting.

The WOS are offering two $2000 scholarships. Please print and complete all of the following along with a transcript and mail or drop off to the following address by March 25, 2024.  Please note the rules for eligibility below.

Application

Children, grandchildren, stepchildren, and legal wards (residing with or having proof of financial obligation) of any active United Steelworkers Local 689 member employed within the jurisdiction of his/her Local are eligible to apply for the scholarship award. The candidate must be in a graduating high school class during the year the scholarship is being awarded and have attained at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average, which must be stated on the attached transcript for the year of graduation.
