Meeting Highlights 6/20/19

Call To Order

President Shawn Willis called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm

Roll Call - Roll call of officers was taken. All answered except: Clayton Porter, Elizabeth Diaz, Martin Sandoval, and Robert Cleveranga

Minutes of Previous Meeting - Bob Walters made the motion to waive the reading of the May 2019 general membership meeting minutes and accept them as written.

Communications 

Our local will be sponsoring 4 members to participate in Local 1014 Golf outing.  It will be a raffle draw.  Members that are drawn will be notified.

Chuck Mosely sent us a letter inviting us to his annual golf outing and steak fry, on Friday, July 12, 2019.  He is also asking for our support to be his voice in the general assembly.  Bob Walters made the motion on the excutive boards recommendation to sponsor the event for $150.00.

Jasper County Democrat Central Committee is hosting their annual golf outing on August 26, 2019, and asking for our support.  Bob Walters made the motion on the executive boards recommendation to sponsor a Green for $100.00.

WOS District 7 Conference is August 7, 8 and 9, 2019.  The Committee is asking to send 4 women to represent our local.  Bob Walters made the motion on the executive boards recommendation to sponsor 4 women from our local for this event.

Officers Report

The Financial Secretary Report for the month of June 2019 was presented by Financial Secretary Don Taylor.  After completion of the reading Don Taylor moved the Financial Secretary Report for June 2019 be accepted as read.

The lost time and expenses report for the month of June 2019 was presented by Financial Secretary Don Taylor .  At the conclusion of the report Don Taylor moved that the lost time and expenses for June 2019 be paid.

The Treasurer's Report for the Month of June 2019 was presented by Treasurer Greg Ford.  After completion of the reading.  Greg Ford moved the Treasurer's Report for June 2019 be accepted as read.

Committee Reports

Grievance Committee - Reggie Chandler announced to member to know your local union rights.  Every one should have contract books.  Please read it, and know your rights.  If any member does not understand,  Reggie Chandler said he will help you.

WOS Committee - District 7 Quarterly meeting is going to be held on June 28, 2019.  WOS Local 5133 will be hosting it for the 1st time.  The meeting is at 4:30.  WOS President Tamika Malone is asking for support of $150.00 for Refreshments.  Bob Walter made motion on the executive boards recommendation to sponsor meeting.

Safety Committee - Charlie announced that both bathrooms are fixed on Chrome line.  Charlie also announced that him and Ollie King was walking around mill, and noticed alot of our members are not wearing their PPE.  Cliff announced that band cutting on the entry end of the 6-stand is dangerous, and members there are not wearing their PPE.  Cliff also spoke about how the bands on the entry end of 6-stand get caught under the converyor, and are laying everywhere.  The banding problem needs to be brought up to management.

Don Taylor announced that we need to get back to looking out for one another.   Don Taylor announced Inspection on harnesses will begin next week.  He wants to have them tapped out by the end of July.  Don Taylor siad, "Bob the Builder wants reports every week on who don't have it done."

Training - No Report

Rapid Response - Elizabeth Diaz is still asking for members to fill out petition cards for the Healthcare workers and the workplace.  If any member has not done this yet, and wants to fill one out.  See Elizabeth Diaz in Temper Mill.

Civil Rights - No Report

New Business 

President Shawn Willis announced that he and 2 other members attended the District 7 Summer School Program in Champagne, Il.  The program is very educational, and informative.  This program is held in June and July of each year.  Applications for this program get taken in January of each year.  President Shawn Willis announced, that he is in the process of wanting to send more members.  If anyone interested, please let him know.

Member asked "What's going on with new hire MTM'S and being put in 6-stand?"  Reggie Chandler responded "new hires MTM's have to get through maintenance training before they can be put in bullgang."  Cliff also told member that it is in the contract book Appendix T.

Member asked " Being on sick leave, 2 open spots have posted on CA Line.  How can I sign up for these postings?"  President Shawn Willis replied "call Labor Relations, and let them know you would like to sign for postings."
