IT'S OUR TURN

NO CONCESSIONS

Recent News

In 2014 the company negotiated more concessions with the Union claiming that we had to take concessions (again) to try to get an investment of approx. 230 million for a New Plant. After we agreed to take concessions of 20 million the new plant was never approved and we never got our money back. Instead they built the first of three phases of a new acid plant that cost approx. 20 million dollars, so in theory the Union paid for this phase.

Respect the Court Order – Respect the Picket Line

The New Brunswick Court of Queen’s Bench has issued a Court Order limiting our picket line to 6 individuals at the entrances or exits of the Smelter (check wording, what do they call the other exit, regardless of if they are USW Local 7085 Members. The Order is attached.

The Local is scheduling 12 members (6 per entrance or exit) to be on the picket line at all times and it is imperative that you, your friends, and family DO NOT join the picket line unless you are scheduled to be there.

We thank everyone for all of their support, but we urge our members and all members of the community to respect the Injunction Order which has a limit of 6 picketers on the picket line. MEMBERS OF LOCAL 7085 AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY, please, do not go to the picket line unless you're part of the team of 6 scheduled to be on the picket line. For more information, please contact the Local. In solidarity.
