Colton Smith

Colton is the current Local President and Unit President at 1016-03. He began in the Local President position in 2024 after previous President Yesko had taken a full-time hire with the International Union. Colton previously was elected Vice President in the 2024 and 2021 elections. Colton is also the current District 10 NextGen Coordinator and assists the District's Vets Of Steel program. He is also a Part-Time employee of the USW's TMC where Colton facilitates Health & Safety Training with Union members and Company staff across the US. He also recently worked at the International Health, Safety, and Environment Dept. throughout the summer of 2024. Colton has held many positions in both the Local and Unit including Unit Shop Steward, Production Grievanceman, Maintenance Grievanceman, Unit Recording Secretary, Acting Unit President, Local Trustee, Local Treasurer, and Local Vice President. He started out on the Workers Comp. Committee at the young age of 20 and has also served on Safety & Health, NextGen, Communication Action Team, Political Action Committee, and assisted the Civil Rights Committee. Colton was the key note taker during the successful Labor Dispute he helped lead against his employer from 2020 - 2021. During the strike Colton took on a full time position assisting his Staff, the Legal Department, New Media, Strategic Campaigns, along with manning, staffing, and feeding the Picket Lines. Along with coordinating fundraisers and solidarity events. Colton is a recipient of the Karen Silkwood Award and has also received the District 10 Achievement Award.
