Marion "Bob" Kemper

Bob started his career at Great Lakes in 1997. He hired in as a laborer at the Coke plant, on Zug Island. From there he went to the former cranes department and worked primrily at the 80" Hot Mill as well as what was termed as the Cold Mill.

In 2001 Bob became an appretice in the former Electronics Department and is currently an Electrician, at the Tandem Mill within the Cold Rolling Department.

Bob has served in some form of Union capacity since 2002. His first role being appointed as the Electronics Apprentice Representative in 2002. 

He also served on the Local Building Committee, Sick and Wellness Committee, Rapid Response Committee, Next Generation Committee and was first elected to office as the Division #3 Grievance Committeeman in 2009 and served in that role until 2018.

Bob also served six years (2018-2024) as the Grievance Chairman of Local 1299 and is the current President of Local 1299.

Bob has taken part in multiple negotiations with USSteel, EES-Coke, Linde and the former Tube-City.

Bob is a Wayne State Labor School Graduate as well as a Graduate of the USW Leadership school.
