The Bylaws Committee makes proposed changes to our local union bylaws. Changes can be given to any committee member at any time. Any proposed change that a member would like to have the committee to consider must have 5 signatures from active members on the proposal at the time it is given to the committee. Committee members can make their own proposals.
Any proposed changes to the bylaws, regardless of where it originated must be approved by the membership. The approval process takes place over 3 membership meetings. The first meeting is a reading only of the proposed change. The second meeting is a reading and discussion of the proposed change. The second meeting is also where any actions can be taken to change, adjust or amend the proposal. The third meeting will be a reading and vote on the proposed change.
