Tentative Agreement with ArcelorMittal Reflects Industry Standard

After months of bargaining, our negotiating committee is pleased to report that we have reached tentative agreement with ArcelorMittal on contracts covering about 15,000 USW members of 13 local unions.

The proposed four-year agreement mirrors the industry standard on wages, lump-sum payments and pensions and maintains or improves our existing health insurance benefits for active and retired Steelworkers and their dependents.

We are now preparing a detailed contract summary along with ballots and voting instructions, which will be mailed to individual members in keeping with USW Basic Steel Industry Conference ratification procedures and include a deadline for ballots to be submitted before they are counted in Pittsburgh.

We are now scheduling local union explanation meetings for members to review the tentative agreements.

The negotiating committee thanks everyone for their support and solidarity throughout the process.

We are proud of our membership for standing together in unity to demand fairness and justice, and our collective dedication, patience and persistence have been rewarded.
