Tanner Smith
Tanner Smith hired on in 2013, beginning his career in surface maintenance. Over the years, he has worked across several maintenance crews, including the Power House, Caustic, and Mono plants. Today, he has returned to the Caustic area, where he continues to put his experience to work.
Tanner became involved with the union because he wanted to help his fellow workers and be someone people could turn to when they needed support. He also wanted to learn more about what the union does and play an active role in making a difference for the membership.
His commitment to serving the membership extends beyond his role as a Trustee. Tanner serves on the Donation Committee and Safety Committee, is a Miners’ Representative, and was selected to serve on the Local’s most recent contract negotiations committee. Through these roles, he has worked to improve workplace safety, support community initiatives, and help represent the interests of Local 13214 members during collective bargaining.
Outside of work, Tanner enjoys spending time outdoors. Whether he’s fishing, floating the river, hunting, riding his side-by-side, or simply taking a drive through the desert, he appreciates any opportunity to get outside. Above all else, he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, who are at the center of everything he does.
Tanner believes that a strong union starts with members looking out for one another, and he is proud to serve Local 13214 by helping ensure every member has someone they can count on when they need it most.
