United Steelworkers Constitutional Convention

The United Steelworkers Constitutional Convention was held August 8-11, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. President Cindy Czappa and Vice President Nick Vitello were in attendance. 

Damascus Road Project

Damascus Road Project is a volunteer project to aid in stopping sex trafficing and exploitation. They provide education, locate victims, and advocate for those who have been exploited.

During our quarterly Women of Steel meeting we were graced with a presentation about the Damascus Road Project and the lives they affect.

Take Action: American Workers Need New Trade Tools to Compete with China

China is finding ways around our import tariffs. They are using other countries to send their products into the US, and are using bargain websites to use our mail system to get around the tariffs. Alliance for American Manufacturing is holding a petition to close the loopholes in our legislation that allow China to sneak their products in. Master Schedule Update

On August 10, 2023 we held a vote to determine which 12-hour rotation would be in our finalized contract vote on 8/24/23. With a slim margin, the 4-on 4-off rotation won. 

Please join us August 24, 2023 at the HR trailer on Point Basse from 5am-7pm to vote to ratify our local collective bargaining agreement. If any questions arise, please reach out to a local union representative. We are here for you.

Lumberjack World Championships

USW Local 59 sponsored Maddy Lyons at the World Lumberjack Championships that took place in Hayward, WI July 28-30 2022. She competed in log rolling and boom. Congratulations Maddy and we hope you had a great time!
