Last week, USW Local Union 9558 bargaining committee met with the Company and continued bargaining toward our first USW Contract. USW District 8 Representatives Fentre Graves and Michael Lewis as well as USW Headquarters Representative, Shane Carlin was present for the bargaining.
There was a very thorough discussion and presentation about E and N time, annual shift selection and vacation scheduling. As often happens during first contract bargaining, even the Company representatives don’t have a full understanding of how these programs are administered and how they are supposed to work.
We reached our first agreements on some basic contract matters that will be an important part of our contract. We are encourage that we will continue make progress and agreement on additional matters when we return to the table in January.
