Bargaining Update #6

Bargaining was very complicated but successful last week. We successfully addressed production and inventory issues in the IGT Wax Department and finally agreed to a very solid Grievance and Arbitration procedure. We also submitted a proposal that would make working on a holiday voluntary.

We all know how important it is to all of us that we meet customer demand. But, it is also important that we have desirable work schedules that allow us to enjoy our personal lives. While 10 hour shifts may not be the most desirable schedule, we were able to make sure that 10 hour shifts schedule in IGT Wax is only for an interim or temporary basis. Additionally, we made sure that vacations would not be disrupted while on this schedule.

The agreed upon Grievance and Arbitration procedure provides for efficient processing of any disputes between the Company and Union regarding the terms of the contract or discipline issues. If disputes are not resolved they can be taken to an independent third party neutral who, like a judge, can finally resolve the dispute.

Again, we understand that customer demand must be met. We also work hard and look forward to time off with our families on holidays. We have proposed that holiday work should be on a voluntary basis. If you want to work on a holiday, you can. If you would rather celebrate the holiday with your family, you should be able to do that. That’s what we have proposed.

Agreement was reached on the basic language for Agreement and Duration articles. The actual length of time of the contract has not yet been bargained.
