AFL-CIO Report Shows Top CEOs Made 312 Times Workers' Pay in 2025

A new AFL-CIO Executive Paywatch report shows that S&P 500 CEOs received an average of $22.8 million in 2025—312 times the pay of the median U.S. worker, up from 285 times in 2024.

The report highlights the widening gap between executive compensation and the workers whose labor creates corporate profits, while working people continue to face rising costs for housing, health care, food, and emergencies.
