What Does a Poll Worker Do?

Poll workers help local elections run smoothly. They welcome voters, help with check-in, answer questions, provide assistance when needed, and help make sure everyone has a positive experience at the polls.

Most poll-worker roles are temporary and paid. They require a short training period and attendance on Election Day. Poll workers help maintain safe, in-person voting for communities without reliable access to mail service, voters with disabilities, voters who need language assistance, and voters who want to cast their ballot in person.

Serving as a poll worker is a valuable way to give back to your community and support your neighbors. Poll working is nonpartisan, and you may even get paid.
