The History of Medicare

After July 1, 1966, with the passage of Medicare senior citizens now enjoyed health care as a right not a privilege.
Seniors could visit a doctor, receive medical care, and be responsible for only their monthly premiums. They could receive hospital care without facing bankruptcy or being forced to rely on friends, family, and charity to cover their costs.
Like Social Security, Medicare removed much of the risk and uncertainty associated with growing old.
