About Us

We are a United Steel Workers Local located in Corning, NY. Our Local formed in 1945 under the American Flint Glass Workers Union, in 2003 the AFGWU merged with the USW. We are part of District 4, and are active members in the Glass Council of the USW. We represent about 2100 members and almost 2000 retirees. Our employees work in 7 different facilities in what we call the "Valley" which are located in Corning, Erwin, Painted Post and Big Flats New York. We have very active Women of Steel and Next Generation Committees, as well as newly established Veteran's and Pride Committees.
