National Grid is jeopardizing the safety of our communities by locking out 1,100 of its most experienced employees who are critical to ensuring safe and quality gas work in Massachusetts.

For the last six weeks, our committee has been working to engage ArcelorMittal management in good faith negotiations, yet we received another predictably unacceptable counterproposal from ArcelorMittal this week with little movement, if any, on the company’s part.

The company has failed to address our need for wage and pension improvements, and management continues to demand unreasonable and unnecessary healthcare concessions from active members and retirees.

The USW Bargaining Team will be in town on Thursday, June 21st to tour our plant and speak with members on the shop floor. There will be special informational meetings held at the Union Hall at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on this date. It is extremely important for all of our members to be well informed as we go into negotiations. Please attend the meeting most convenient for you.

The September 1, 2015 United Steelworkers Basic Labor Agreement (BLA) provides for a profit sharing pool of 7.5% of the company's profits defined as Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT). The Company reported an unaudited Adjusted EBIT of ($-32,412,831.94).

As a result, there was no profit sharing generated for the pool.

The September 1, 2015 United Steelworkers Basic Labor Agreement (BLA) provides for a profit sharing pool of 7.5% of the company's profits defined as Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT). The Company reported an unaudited Adjusted EBIT of ($-38,927,598.80).

As a result, there was no profit sharing generated for the pool.
