2021 Local Union Elections

Union Brothers and Sisters,

The Local Union Executive Board with the guidance of the International Union has determined that due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions in place with respect to room capacity of the MALC, we cannot safely hold an in-person nomination meeting for the 2021 Local Union Elections. On a one-time basis due solely to the above concerns, nominations for Local Union Candidates to serve in Local Union Office will be accepted in writing. Nominations of candidates for the following offices will be accepted by submitting the nomination to Jon Garrison, Recording Secretary. Nominations to be valid, must come from a member in good standing, can be hand written or typed but must include the name of the person being nominated, position they are being nominated for, and have a printed name with signature by the person making the nomination. Nominations can be submitted by mail, hand delivery to the Recording Secretary or to a designated drop box available at the in plant Union offices.

SELECTION OF ELECTION COMMITTEE (TELLERS)

The USW Local Union Elections Manual states that “The Election Committee shall be selected following the completion of nominations and during the same meeting.” Due to Covid-19 and not being able to hold an in-person meeting as stated previously, the Local Union Executive Board recommends the following members to act as the Election Committee for the 2021 Local Union Elections. Please submit your approval of the recommendations or you may cross out any of the recommendations and write in the member’s name(s) you are submitting in place of the recommendations below. No Officer, no candidate, or acclaimed candidate for Local Union Office or Grievance Committee Member shall serve on the Election Committee. Write in submissions shall be tabulated by the Executive Board after the acceptance of nominations. Any member’s name(s) submitted who receives more recommendations than the Executive Board cast will replace the Executive Board recommended individual(s) receiving the most cross outs.
