Members who did not work in the month of April will start their COBRA coverage for insurance this month. Your premium payments are due at the end of the month to the company. Mailing information is included in your COBRA notification packet or in the Contact information part of this update. Members who did work a day in April will remain on active insurance but will still have to submit their premium payment to benefits by the end of the month. Because of the volume of layoffs and different start/end times the company is not taking premiums out of members’ checks for April. April will be your active insurance and you will receive a new notice for your COBRA insurance to start in May. The amount you pay for the insurance is the same on active as it is on COBRA.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently there is still a one week waiting period for the state of Wisconsin to get your unemployment benefits. Governor Evers is seeking to remove this waiting period but a temporary change in law is needed. We do not know when or if this will take place. For those who have claimed unemployment and since returned to work you have fulfilled your one week waiting period, you will not have to wait an additional week after being laid off again. Your initial claim covers you for a full year of your benefit. This means if you were out of work for a week or longer, returned to work, and then you are laid off starting on 4/13 you will qualify immediately for your unemployment benefits.
