Essentia's $500 Bonus

It pays to stand up. We held a successful informational picket against short staffing and low wages at Esssentia. Our President, Deanna Hughes was quoted by the local media as saying "They’re not giving any sort of equitable thank you to these employees, especially all of who worked during a pandemic." Four days later, Dr. Herman issues a statement talking about how the company has decided to show its appreciation for us by giving us all a $500 bonus. Coincidence? Thanks again to everyone who turned out on Saturday. Solidarity works!

P.S. The union was notified about the $500 bonus on Wednesday. We held off on signing off on it until we got some questions about the fine print clarified and got the company to agree to include more categories than they had previously intended to. For example, we were able to get Essentia to agree that a casual who worked .1 to .3 will get $250. Everyone should be getting their bonuses soon now that they've been finalized.
