Support the Deer River Clinic Workers!

The workers at the Essentia Health Clinic in Deer River have reached an impasse in their negotiations with Essentia. They have announced they will be holding a two day strike on Jan. 2 and 3. Our union stands 100% in support of the Deer River workers, who are represented by the SEIU union. We have filed the legally required notification that our members will be joining the picket line in solidarity with them. (Please note, to avoid being disciplined, that you have to be off the clock while you walk the picket line.) The pickets will be taking place from from 6am to 6pm, each day.

We don't have any members in Deer River, but we urge everyone to try and drive down there if you can. If you need a ride, we're hoping to organize a car pool from our office on Jan. 3. And be on the look out for if Essentia tries to sign up anyone as a strike breaker. Do NOT sign up to work in Deer River during the strike. It's important that we support or working class sisters, brothers and siblings during their struggle for a fair contract! Health care workers of the Northland, unite!
