Two Important Opportunites to Show Solidarity

There are two upcoming solidarity actions that we urge our members to support. The first is Tuesday, May 13. The LPNs at the North Shore Estates in west Duluth are going to be holding a one day strike. The LPNs there are represented by our union siblings in the Service Employees International Union. Their strike is going to start at 7am on Tuesday, and run until 7am and run until 7am on Wednesday. SEIU is urging folks to join them Tuesday morning on the picket line, and if you can, they are especially urging folks to show up at 11am for a rally. North Shore Estates is located at 7700 Grand Avenue in Duluth.
The second solidarity opportunity is regarding the Minnesota Nurses Association. The MNA is currently in contract negotiations with both Essentia Health and St. Luke's/Aspirus. They are going to be holding a rally on May 20 at 5:30pm in front of the Duluth City Hall. The rally will be calling out the obscene amount of money health care CEOs are paying themselves, all while refusing to raise wages for their workers, or hire enough folks to achieve a safe level of staffing.
We urge our members to attend both event, if you're able to! Wear your Steelworker colors. And stay tuned for further updates!
