Deanna Hughes has resigned as our union president. In situations where a president resigns before the end of their term, the vice president automatically becomes the president for the remainder of that term. So that means Tuan Vu is now our new president.
However, this leaves the role of vice president vacant. As last night's membership meeting we voted to put out a call for any of our members in good standing who are interested in applying for this role to fill out an application. Our Executive Board will then chose someone from the list of applicants to become the vice president. The deadline for applying is June 19. The Executive Board will make it's decision on June 20.
The application contains a brief job description for the VP. It is a full time position. The pay is the same as what you are getting with your current job (plus a monthly stipend of $150 and 15% on top of your base wage to make up for not getting over time, even when you have to work more than 40 hours a week). The person who is selected will go on a leave of absence from their current employer. The new VP would be in this role until our next scheduled officer elections, which will be in April of 2024.
