2026 General Election

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026

USW Local 983 members live on both sides of the Georgia–South Carolina state line. Use the information below to identify the important voting dates for your state.

Georgia

The 2026 General Election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Georgia voters have three weeks of advance voting, including two required Saturdays; counties may also offer Sunday voting.

South Carolina

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026 — 7:00 AM–7:00 PM

Early Voting: October 19–31, 2026
Hours: Monday–Saturday, 8:30 AM–6:00 PM
Closed Sunday: October 25

South Carolina allows all registered voters to vote early during the early-voting period. 

Voter Registration Deadlines

Georgia

Registration deadline: Monday, October 5, 2026

Georgia requires registration by the fifth Monday before an election.

South Carolina

Registration deadline: Sunday, October 4, 2026

South Carolina requires voters to be registered at least 30 days before the election. Because of how the weekend deadline works, mailed applications can be accepted if postmarked Monday, October 5.

Voter ID Requirements

Georgia

Georgia voters must present an acceptable photo ID when voting in person. Acceptable IDs include:

• Georgia driver's license — even if expired
• Valid state or federal government-issued photo ID
• Georgia voter ID card
• Valid U.S. passport
• Valid U.S. military photo ID
• Valid tribal photo ID
• Student photo ID from a Georgia public college or university

Georgia provides a free voter ID card for eligible voters who don't have an acceptable photo ID.

South Carolina

South Carolina voters voting in person are asked to present a current and valid:

• South Carolina driver's license
• South Carolina DMV ID card
• South Carolina voter registration card with photo
• Federal military photo ID
• U.S. passport

The SC DMV ID category also includes a valid South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit. Free photo ID is available through county voter-registration offices for registered voters who need one. South Carolina also has procedures for voters who cannot obtain qualifying photo ID because of a reasonable impediment.
